The Ministry of Economy and Industry, in cooperation with the Raqqa Governorate, laid the foundation stone today, Tuesday, for the cement plant project in the city of Ain Issa in the countryside of the governorate, with the participation of Governor Abdul Rahman Salama. It was agreed to implement the project through coordination between Al-Hassan Holding Group, the Ministry of Economy and Industry, and in partnership with a Chinese company.

Production capacity exceeding 6,000 tons

Siraaj Al-Hariri, the Director General of the General Establishment for Geology and Mineral Wealth at the Ministry of Energy, clarified that the project is being implemented in partnership with a Chinese company and under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy and Industry. The plant's production capacity is planned to exceed 6,000 tons per day, with the construction implementation and operation of final production lines expected to take two and a half years.

Creating local job opportunities

For his part, Ibrahim Al-Aissa, a member of the board of directors of Al-Hassan Holding Group, stated that the plant will rely on locally producing clinker, thereby eliminating the need for imports and reducing tax burdens and transportation costs. He noted that the expected production capacity of the plant is 5,000 tons of clinker, which is the raw material for cement, and added that the project will provide approximately 800 job opportunities.

Al-Hariri also highlighted the importance of the plant in meeting the needs of the Raqqa and Al-Hasakah governorates for basic building materials, and reducing high transportation costs thanks to local availability. He further pointed to plans for extensive coordination with foreign expertise, particularly Turkish and Chinese, in preparation for expanding the base of investment projects in the coming stage.
