Lebanese Army: Israel’s Claims About South Litani Are Baseless
The Lebanese Army denies Israeli allegations regarding its operations in South Litani, reaffirming its commitment to its assigned tasks.

The Lebanese Army command stated that Israeli claims regarding the military institution's performance and its tasks in the South Litani area are baseless, noting that Israeli disinformation campaigns aim to undermine the army's credibility locally and internationally, coinciding with ongoing negotiations.

Military Task Details

The command clarified in a statement published via the 'X' platform on Tuesday that Lebanese military units began addressing a military facility in the town of Kafr Kila – Bint Jbeil in December 2025, continuing their mission until March 16, 2026, when they halted work and evacuated the area at the request of the Ceasefire Supervision Committee due to Israeli threats to bomb it.

It added that the Army command informed the committee that the task was not completed, and that a quantity of military equipment and ammunition remained inside the facility, which was subsequently subjected to Israeli bombing. It pointed out that the army's repeated requests to secure the resumption of work to complete the evacuation of the facility were met with Israeli rejection.

Resumption of Work and Documentation of Facts

According to the statement, military units resumed their mission on August 15, 2026, in coordination with the supervision committee, and continued working until the final completion of the task and the closure of the facility on October 16. Regarding the video clip showing a truck targeted by Israel, the command clarified that it dates back to July 3, 2026, in the Sdeqeen area in the Sidon district.

The command affirmed that all facts and procedures related to the facility are documented with the Ceasefire Supervision Committee, considering that they refute Israeli claims and prove the efforts made by the military institution in southern Lebanon. It is recalled that Lebanon and Israel signed a framework ceasefire agreement last June under US sponsorship, which stipulates the disarmament of armed groups not affiliated with the Lebanese state and the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from areas they penetrated in southern Lebanon.

Army Commitments

The Army command reaffirmed its commitment to performing its duties and obligations and executing assigned tasks, while the Israeli occupation continues its attacks and violations of existing understandings, despite its ongoing violations and attacks on southern Lebanese territory.
