Lebanese Health Ministry Announces Israeli Aggression Death Toll Rises to 8,956
Lebanese Health Ministry reports 8,956 dead and 30,664 injured since October 2023 amid ongoing Israeli attacks.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced on Friday the rise in the total number of victims of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon since October 8, 2023, up to the present, reaching 8,956 dead and 30,664 injured. The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) quoted a statement from the Public Health Emergency Operations Center, confirming that the cumulative toll of the Israeli aggression on the country since March 2 last year reached 4,389 dead and 12,428 injured.

Intense Military Operations

In the same context, Israeli occupation forces bombed a site in the town of Tiri in the Bint Jbeil district, coinciding with artillery shelling targeting Wadi al-Hajar towards the town of Tulin, the surroundings of Kafr Shouba in the Arqoub area, and the outskirts of Hadatha in Bint Jbeil district, in addition to Wadi Zebqin in the Sidon district. Israeli occupation forces also bombed a house on the Kafr Shouba road "Tall Sedane" in Shebaa, and proceeded to burn several houses in the town of Al-Qantara, coinciding with the execution of a wide-ranging sweep operation with machine guns.

Continuation of Violations

For its part, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) confirmed on Thursday the continuation of Israeli violations in southern Lebanon, which included air raids and artillery shelling targeting several southern cities and villages during the period from last Sunday to Tuesday. Lebanon and Israel signed a framework agreement on June 26 last year, stipulating the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from areas they infiltrated in southern Lebanon, coinciding with the deployment of the Lebanese army.

Impact of the Agreement on the Ground Situation

It was noted that the continuous Israeli aggression, shelling, bulldozing, and bombing operations continue to hinder the completion of the army's deployment and the return of residents to their villages. These field developments come amid ongoing border tensions between the two countries, reflecting the complexity of the security situation in the region despite the existence of political agreements aimed at calming the situation.
