The allocation of large sums of money by the "Hezbollah" militia to house affected families in southern Lebanon has raised questions and doubts about the sources of these funds and the mechanism of their entry and distribution. The Lebanese National News Agency quoted MP Fouad Mazroui on Tuesday, stating that Hezbollah’s announcement to allocate large sums for housing affected families raises serious questions about the sources of these funds and how they are brought into Lebanon, transferred, and distributed outside official financial frameworks.

In the same context, Mazroui pointed out that the seriousness of this issue increases in light of the sanctions imposed by the US Department of the Treasury on individuals and networks accused of financing Hezbollah and transferring money through illegal channels. He affirmed that helping the affected is a national duty, but their suffering cannot serve as a cover for parallel financial systems or an excuse to bypass Lebanese laws.

For his part, Mazroui called on the government, Bank of Lebanon, the Special Investigation Authority, and the competent judicial and security authorities to take immediate action to verify the sources and paths of these funds, reveal any potential links to sanctioned networks, and hold accountable anyone proven to be involved in financial violations. He stressed that a state within a state cannot be accepted, neither militarily nor financially, and that Lebanon needs a single state, one legitimate weapon, and a law applied to everyone without exception.

Earlier today, the "Hezbollah" militia announced the launch of a financial aid program to house displaced persons and those affected by the Israeli war, including payments of up to $14,000 per housing unit in Beirut and its southern suburbs, and $12,000 in other areas, covering rent and furniture allowances, without specifying the source of funding for the aid program.
