The late Princess Diana of Wales is back in the spotlight after a collection of her rare letters and personal cards written between July and December 1991 were revealed.
The announcement reflects the continued demand and passion for the late princess's collections, as her private correspondence arouses the curiosity of collectors and followers around the world as it draws attention and reveals deep human details even decades after her passing.
She exchanged it with the late star Terence Stamp
The details of the auction organized by the prestigious "Bonhams" house in the British capital, London, revealed private letters belonging to the late Princess Diana, which she addressed to the famous British actor Terence Stamp, who died last year. The correspondence exchanged during 1991 showed the nature of the friendly and close relationship between them, addressing multiple issues that were far from the official protocol appearance, from royal responsibilities and challenges to the health, psychological and social challenges of the princess.
The late British star Terence Stamp is one of London's most prominent faces during the 1960s era and a symbol of elegance at that time, according to the organiser, and he later achieved worldwide fame with his portrayal of "General Zod" in the 1978 film "Superman", before reprising the same role in the second part of the film "Superman 2".
Absolute confidence in Cancer births
In a touching letter dated October 17, 1991, Princess Diana expressed her deep gratitude and the amount of trust she had given her friend Stamp, writing to him: "You are so kind to me, and I was really moved by how much you understood my work, my role, and everything that goes along with them."
Diana went on to speak candidly about the pressures associated with her public life, saying, "Few people would take the time and effort to delve into such a complex situation. Long live Prozac! Prozac is the brand name for the drug fluoxetine used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and eating disorders, according to the UK's National Health Service (NHS).
On December 7, 1991, Diana invited her British friend to lunch via an unconventional postcard with a drawing of a naked breast with a face painted with the words "All The Breast from London", where she wrote: "I haven't met any Cancer in a very long time, and I can't stand Christmas without meeting someone."
Bonhams for Sale Separately
Bonhams announced that Princess Diana's personal messages will be put up for sale separately as part of Terence Stamp's wider auction from Monday , amid expectations that the price of a single letter will range from £500 ($670) to £2,000 ($2,700).
The auction also includes exhibits of additional artistic and historical value, most notably two original screenplays for the two "Superman" films with a stamp signature in handwriting, which are expected to sell as a single piece for between £3,000 and £5,000 ($4,000 and $6,700).
The move was reminiscent of previous auctions of Diana's correspondence, which saw a huge turnout, with a set of letters to her former housekeeper Violet Collison sold in 2024, and another set of 32 letters to her boyfriends Susie and Tariq Kassim sold in 2023 for £145,550.
