National team kickboxing player Mahmoud Buri secured first place and the gold medal at the Kickboxing World Cup recently held in Uzbekistan, strengthening his position on the international sports stage.

Buri began his sports career in 2001 in Maarrat Misrin, Idlib, competing in local and international tournaments after winning the Republic Championship in Taekwondo for six consecutive years, which enabled him to join the national team.

From Competition to Creating Champions

Buri explained that he founded the Syrian International Academy for Martial Arts and Fitness in Maarrat Misrin to develop talent, noting that he served as secretary-general of the Kickboxing Federation in Idlib before liberation, where he contributed to preparing teams that finished first at the club level.

He pointed out that his coaching career resulted in preparing about 16 champions for the Republic, five of whom were selected for the national team, adding that his participation in tournaments after liberation yielded advanced results and his team achieved first place.

International Ambitions and Humanitarian Experience

Buri noted that the gold win in Uzbekistan was an opportunity to raise the Syrian flag, affirming that his ambition extends to discovering new talents and preparing players to compete in Arab and international tournaments.

He added that Buri possesses nearly ten years of experience in the humanitarian field through his work with humanitarian organizations, combining sports training with community service and supporting youth in his journey.
