Madrid's superiority in the Clásico
French striker Kylian Mbappe of the Spanish first football team Real Madrid revealed that reaching the milestone of 100 goals with the royal club is merely a secondary detail compared to the importance of defeating traditional rival Barcelona 2-1 in the Spanish league "La Liga".
Mbappe said in a statement broadcast by Real Madrid's official channel on Monday: "I am very happy. I think everyone knows that I love scoring goals, and I love helping the team in this way, but I think this is just a detail, the most important thing is the team's victory, and I think it will give us great confidence as a group."
The team's message and focus on the future
The 27-year-old French striker added: "Honestly, the real star of the Clásico was the team, because we knew we had to deliver a great match, a match we had to play like men. Winning is a good message, but we cannot think that the season is over. Next week, against Racing Santander at their stadium, we must show the same sharpness."
Regaining competitiveness in the league
After two seasons without major titles, Mbappe emphasized that Real Madrid players must win titles this season as one team, continuing: "When we look at the players here, anyone who claims a lack of quality is lying."
The two French goals allowed Real Madrid to inflict Barcelona's first defeat in the Spanish league this season, after nine consecutive victories, thus returning the club to the title race where it trails the leader by only 3 points (27 vs 24).
Mbappe increased his tally in the top scorers' list to 11 goals in "La Liga" this season, two goals behind the leader, Brazilian Raphinha, who scored the only goal for Barcelona in the Clásico.
