The medical campaign and specialized surgical operations accompanying the Syrian-French Conference have begun in Deir Ezzor Governorate, with the participation of Syrian doctors from inside and outside the country and foreign doctors, coinciding with the provision of modern medical devices and equipment to support the governorate's hospitals and develop their health services.
The head of the medical campaign, Dr. Mazen Mala Othman, explained on Sunday that the campaign included orthopedic surgery, congenital deformities in children, and brachial plexus paralysis, while specialized workshops began in gastrointestinal endoscopy, bronchoscopy, chest and neurological diseases, first aid and emergencies, pediatric surgery, and laboratory medicine.
For his part, Dr. Obaida Abdul Razzaq, director of Deir Ezzor National Hospital, pointed out that specialized operations were carried out and medical work continued for a week, including the opening of the expanded maxillofacial surgery department and the addition of a dental implant room, which enhances the capabilities of the health staff and improves services provided to residents.
Dr. Othman added that the laboratory medicine workshop will be held at Al-Huwaidi Hospital, and that the events will move from Deir Ezzor to Al-Hasakah and Raqqa, involving specialized surgeries in pediatric surgery such as urethroplasty, noting that the Syrian Doctors Union in France provided various devices including gastrointestinal and bronchial endoscopes and medical monitoring devices.
Mohammed Al-Hajj, the father of one of the sick children, noted that his child underwent a surgery to align his fingers performed by a French doctor and will undergo another surgery in two months, while the cost of the operation in a private hospital exceeds 16 million Syrian pounds.
The conference began two days ago on Friday at the Badia Al-Sham Hotel, organized by the Syrian Union of Doctors and Pharmacists in France (UMPSF), in cooperation with the "Mihad" and "French Aid for Syria" organizations, with the aim of supporting the health sector and enhancing scientific and professional cooperation.
The Syrian Union of Doctors and Pharmacists in France is a syndical and scientific umbrella that brings together Syrian talents residing in France, aiming to represent them before French institutions and support the health sector in Syria.
