US company Meta announced the launch of a new open-weight artificial intelligence model named "Muse Spark Open," distinguished by its ability to process text and images and execute complex programming tasks, with the possibility of running it locally on Apple Mac devices, despite requiring significant computing resources and memory.
The tech site Engadget reported on Thursday that the model's architecture includes 816 billion parameters, with a context window reaching up to one million tokens, while local operation requires random access memory of at least one terabyte, limiting its use on devices with limited capabilities.
Advanced Coding Capabilities
The model allows handling multiple types of data and is designed to support complex programming tasks and execute operations through AI agents, which are systems capable of completing sequential tasks based on received instructions. Meta stated that it integrated the model with the "Muse Code" tool, dedicated to command-line programming, and used it in tasks including fixing coding errors, adding new features, and building applications.
Availability for Developers
In addition, the company used the model to run the DaVinci Resolve video editing program, reviewing clips and cutting segments. Open-weight models allow developers to access the model's weights, run it, and adapt it to their needs, within the conditions set by the developer, granting them greater flexibility in integrating it into various applications and systems.
The company announced the availability of "Muse Spark Open" through several application programming interface platforms, enabling developers to integrate it into their applications and workflows, while high memory requirements remain a key factor when running it locally on personal devices, reflecting the trend of technology companies toward developing more capable and flexible AI tools.
