Microsoft Allows Control of Windows Devices via Android Phones
New Link to Windows features enable remote PC power management and updates.

American company Microsoft announced the availability of new features in the "Link to Windows" app, enabling Android phone users to remotely control Windows-powered computers, including turning them on or off, as well as the ability to install system updates via mobile phone.

The tech website "Android Headlines" reported on Friday that these features were included in version 1.26101.103.0 of the app, which aims to link Android phones to computers to access calls, messages, photos, and transfer files between devices. The update adds a "Power" button to replace the previous "Lock Computer" button, where pressing it displays a menu containing four options: lock computer, sleep mode, shut down, and restart, allowing users to manage these functions without needing direct access to their device.

In the same context, the app includes an option to install pending Windows updates remotely, with the ability to shut down or restart the computer after installation, while the system alerts the user to the possibility of losing unsaved work before executing these commands. The new features provide additional options for managing computers via phone, potentially reducing the need to use third-party applications to perform power and update tasks, especially among users who already rely on the "Link to Windows" app to connect their devices.

It was noted that this step comes within the framework of developing tools for linking smartphones and computers, enabling users to accomplish more tasks remotely and providing greater flexibility in managing their devices and updating their systems.
