Justice Minister Mohannad Al-Awis emphasized the importance of establishing procedural guidelines and clear protocols for forensic medicine, contributing to enhancing the quality of judicial rulings and safeguarding rights, particularly in the file concerning the fate of missing persons.

Al-Awis stated in a post on the "X" platform on Saturday that the second Syrian Judicial Forensic Medicine Conference, whose proceedings concluded in the city of Aleppo, witnessed important discussions over three days, focusing on expanding the horizons of dialogue and integration between the judicial and medical institutions, and strengthening international cooperation with the Red Cross organization.

He noted that the Ministry's keenness to hold the conference in Aleppo aims to expand the horizons of dialogue and integration between the judicial and medical institutions, and strengthen international cooperation with the Red Cross organization, ensuring the maintenance of citizens' rights and the development of medical legal responsibility.

For his part, the minister confirmed the continuation of work to enhance the role of justice and keep pace with developments in this sensitive stage, particularly in the file concerning the fate of missing persons, and establishing procedural guidelines and clear protocols for forensic medicine that enhance the quality of judicial rulings and protect rights.

The proceedings of the second Judicial Forensic Medicine Conference concluded in the city of Aleppo on Friday, discussing over three days the professional responsibility of the forensic doctor, and the integration of medical expertise with the judiciary in the stage of recovery and rebuilding institutions, with the participation of judges, forensic doctors, and representatives from the ministries of Health, Justice, Higher Education and Scientific Research, the National Commission for Missing Persons, and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The conference falls within the framework of efforts aimed at developing and unifying the forensic medicine system in Syria, enhancing integration between medical expertise and judicial work, and updating methods of documenting and preserving evidence, contributing to raising the reliability of forensic medical reports, supporting investigation procedures, and identifying missing persons and revealing their fate, while ensuring the preservation of the rights of victims and their families.
