The Ministry of Energy announced that the specialized technical committee has completed its investigation into the gasoline issue and the damages incurred by vehicles belonging to several citizens, having submitted its final report. The Ministry clarified in a statement published via its Telegram channel today, Tuesday, that the investigation results revealed the presence of a gasoline shipment that did not meet the approved standard and technical specifications, which had previously been discharged into warehouses belonging to the Syrian Petroleum Company.

The Ministry pointed out that the company decided to return the non-compliant shipment to its source due to its failure to meet specifications and its unsuitability for consumption in the local market. It indicated that an operational error occurred during the implementation of the return process via the pipeline network, leading to the mixing of the non-compliant gasoline with the compliant gasoline, and the arrival of part of the mixture in the local market, which caused damages to citizens' vehicles.

For his part, the Ministry's spokesperson confirmed that the Ministry will take the necessary legal measures against all those responsible for the error and negligence, each according to their responsibility. He also indicated that the Ministry will work on addressing deficiencies in the operation and supervision system to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.

In the same context, the Ministry clarified that the Syrian Petroleum Company has been tasked with establishing a mechanism to compensate the affected citizens and announcing the details, with the compensation process to be implemented in successive stages. The Ministry of Energy had previously announced on October 10 that a field follow-up would be conducted, with the participation of technical experts, regarding the causes of the fault related to the gasoline within the Syrian Petroleum Company's system.
