Ministry of Health warns against practicing nutrition and beauty professions without a license
The ministry stresses that professional diplomas do not grant the right to practice and warns of legal action against violators.

The Syrian Ministry of Health has confirmed that professional diplomas and training certificates in the fields of nutrition and beauty do not grant their holders the right to practice medical or health professions, or to open specialized clinics and centers, emphasizing the necessity of obtaining the required official licenses in accordance with prevailing systems and laws.

The ministry clarified via its Telegram channel on Wednesday that, based on Legislative Decree No. (12) of 1970 regulating medical and health professions, and the general Syrian Penal Code, the practice of these professions is exclusively restricted to those holding a specialized university degree from recognized colleges, or an officially recognized equivalence from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and possessing a license from the Ministry of Health.

Holding violators accountable

The ministry stated that training courses and diplomas issued by non-academic private institutes do not serve as a substitute for the required university qualifications, emphasizing the need to intensify supervision and field monitoring of establishments providing services in the fields of nutrition and beauty. It confirmed that practicing health professions or opening clinics and centers without an official license exposes violators to legal accountability and the taking of necessary measures against them, including the closure of violating establishments in accordance with prevailing laws.

Ensuring the quality of health services

This step comes amid increasing demand for nutrition and beauty services and the expanding scope of centers providing them, along with the necessity to distinguish between training certificates and accredited academic qualifications, and to ensure that services are provided by qualified and licensed individuals, especially since some unprofessional practices may negatively impact citizens' health and safety.
