Ministry of Transport Discusses Simplifying Transactions and Electronic Linking in Damascus
The Ministry of Transport held a workshop in Damascus to streamline procedures and enhance electronic integration among government entities.

The Ministry of Transport organized a workshop at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus yesterday, Wednesday, to discuss simplifying transport transactions and developing electronic linking between government entities, as well as addressing administrative and technical difficulties hindering transaction completion. The workshop aims to facilitate procedures and improve the quality of services provided to citizens by enhancing institutional work efficiency.

Deputy Minister of Transport for Land Transport Affairs, Mohammad Rahhal, and representatives from various relevant ministries, bodies, and government institutions participated in the workshop. The first session covered cooperation mechanisms with the General Authority for Crossings and Customs, including activating customs port committees and linking databases, alongside exploring the possibility of merging customs documents into a single document to facilitate customs transactions.

For his part, participants discussed the electronic linking of agency contracts issued by the Ministry of Justice, represented by the Public Prosecution, to verify data electronically, and developing coordination with the Ministry of Interior’s Traffic Department to inquire about traffic violations. Discussions also included licensing procedures for industrial establishments in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Internal Trade, and requirements for direct linking with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

The second session highlighted linking data of vehicle-owning companies with the commercial register, administrative integration with Damascus Governorate, and the role of internal oversight in following up procedures. The workshop also addressed difficulties facing electronic linking with mandatory insurance companies, the possibility of issuing insurance contracts within completed transactions at transport directorates, as well as coordination with the Investment Authority.

Participants emphasized the importance of prioritizing electronic linking according to the nature of transactions, developing data exchange mechanisms, and addressing overlapping jurisdictions and procedures. This workshop is the first to bring together the Ministry of Transport and relevant government entities to examine shared administrative and technical files and lay the foundations for enhancing coordination and data integration among institutions.
