Mohammed Alabbar reveals $16 billion investment plans in Syria
Emirati businessman Mohammed Alabbar announces plans to invest over $16 billion in Syrian real estate and tourism projects.

Emirati businessman Mohammed Alabbar, founder and managing director of Emaar Properties, revealed strategic plans to invest more than $16 billion in Syria through projects targeting the real estate development and tourism sectors, highlighting the country's natural and human resources and promising investment foundations.

Alabbar noted during a dialogue session at the "Rise 2026" summit today in Dubai, as reported by the Emirates News Agency, that his recent visit to Syria allowed him to review available investment opportunities, expressing his appreciation for the efficiency of officials and the level of cooperation he observed.

Alabbar clarified that Syria possesses potentials including agricultural land, water, oil, and gas, alongside local human expertise, which provides the foundations for implementing long-term development projects, emphasizing that investment decisions must be based on feasibility studies and economic and commercial considerations.

Alabbar stressed the importance of investments contributing to job creation, business establishment, revitalizing the local economy, and supporting government revenues, noting that major projects may span 20 years, requiring the building of sustainable relationships with local communities and commitment to transparency and social responsibility.

He affirmed that investing in markets facing economic and geopolitical challenges requires careful study of opportunities and risks, while considering local community needs and sustainable development requirements.

Syrian Minister of Public Works and Housing Mustafa Abdul Razzaq and Aleppo Governor Azam al-Gharrab had discussed with Alabbar in Aleppo on October 3 the available investment opportunities in the governorate and the potential to contribute to reconstruction projects, particularly in housing, real estate development, and tourism sectors.
