Nawa Athar band hosts artistic evening in Homs with expat Ammar Daafes to boost cultural activity.

The musical band "Nawa Athar" held an artistic evening titled "Love Meeting 2" on Saturday evening at the Culture Palace theater in Homs, with the participation of expat singer Ammar Daafes and other artists, presenting a selection of traditional songs, mawwal, and Eastern poems that combined authenticity with contemporary arrangements.

The evening, organized by the Homs Directorate of Culture, featured selections of classical works by major Arab composers and singers, and joint vocal segments that reinterpreted melodic heritage in a contemporary musical style, amidst audience interaction with the performed melodies.

For his part, singer Ammar Daafes clarified that the evening was the fruit of a cultural initiative he launched after returning to Syria following an absence of nearly 25 years, aiming to contribute to revitalizing artistic activity in Homs. He noted that cooperation with the Directorate of Culture allowed him to stand on the stage where he began his artistic career nearly 35 years ago.

Daafes indicated his intention to hold a new evening next year titled "Lovers' Meeting 3" to continue connecting with the audience. Meanwhile, band player and student at the Faculty of Music at Homs University, Nawshik Kalinjian, stated that the evening completed the experience of the first meeting held last year with young musical cadres.

For her part, attendee Sanaa Al-Masri highlighted the importance of such events in revitalizing cultural and social life, expressing her happiness at the return of expat artists. The "Nawa Athar" band, composed of graduates and students from the Faculty of Musical Education at Homs University, aims to present musical heritage through diverse methods that combine authenticity with developing young talents.
