The Syrian Bakers Association, in cooperation with the Islamic Relief Organization, inaugurated today, Monday, a new automated bakery in the Bab Amr district of Homs city. The bakery features a production capacity of approximately 7.5 tons of flour, equivalent to about 8,000 loaves of bread daily. This step aims to enhance the provision of this essential commodity to residents and reduce the burden of traveling to distant bakeries.
For his part, Ziad Al-Hasan, director of the Syrian Bakers Association branch in Homs, clarified that the bakery serves the Bab Amr district and surrounding areas, contributing to facilitating residents' access to bread after they suffered from the distance from other bakeries. He noted that the project resulted from joint cooperation between the Association and the Islamic Organization.
Abdul Razzaq Al-Hamoud, head of the Food Security Department at the Islamic Relief Organization, added that the organization undertook the construction and equipping of the bakery with a complete production line, securing all necessary technical equipment and spare parts, in addition to providing it with an electrical generator to ensure continuity of work and production. He pointed out that the total cost of the project reached approximately 230,000 euros, aimed at alleviating the suffering of residents in Homs city generally and the Bab Amr district specifically.
For his part, Hassan Abdul Wahhab, the neighborhood chief of Bab Amr, clarified that the opening of the bakery reduces daily burdens on residents, who previously had to go to the Suburb Bakery and the Company Bakery to obtain bread, resulting in additional costs, effort, and time. He expressed hope that this step would contribute to improving the reality of services in the district.
The inauguration was attended by Homs Governor Marhaf Khaled Al-Nu'aiman, Hassan Al-Uthman, the General Director of the Syrian Bakers Association, and Wael Barghoul, Director of the Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Directorate in Homs. Meanwhile, a new automated bakery with a production capacity of 5.5 tons of flour daily was inaugurated in the Bayada district of Homs city on September 29 last year, aiming to enhance the supply of the commodity to residents of the district and neighboring areas and reduce the burden of obtaining it.
