The nitrogen laboratories affiliated with the Syrian Atomic Energy Commission contribute to supporting scientific and applied research by conducting laboratory analyses of soil, water, fertilizer, and food product samples, and providing accurate scientific data that helps determine the characteristics of these samples.
Specialized Analytical Services
The Commission, via its Telegram channel, stated that the nitrogen laboratories are among the most important specialized laboratories, as they work on analyzing nitrogen in soil, plants, and fertilizers, measuring forms of mineral nitrogen in soil and water samples, analyzing protein in food samples, in addition to providing laboratory analysis services to researchers and public and private entities.
The Commission pointed out that the laboratories are accredited by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and play a role in supporting the agricultural sector and scientific research in Syria, by supporting agricultural research, improving fertilizer management, and contributing to evaluating the quality of soil, water, and food products, as well as providing accurate scientific data that serves studies and research.
Acceptance of External Samples
Laboratory technician Abeer Tayyar clarified that the nitrogen laboratories provide analytical services for internal samples, including conducting experiments specific to the department and analyzing total nitrogen, labeled nitrogen, and protein, in addition to receiving external samples from ministries, universities, graduate students, master's and PhD students, as well as companies and bakeries, noting that the analyses provided include measuring total nitrogen and determining the protein percentage.
The importance of these laboratories is highlighted in providing the necessary scientific data for agricultural, environmental, and food studies, and supporting researchers and beneficiary entities with laboratory analysis results, which contributes to utilizing scientific expertise and developing research applications in these fields.
