The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed that a UN-affiliated warehouse in Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip, sustained damage due to debris from an Israeli airstrike targeting a nearby site, warning of the continued deterioration of humanitarian conditions in the Strip.
The UN News website quoted the office as stating that approximately 100 Palestinian families lost their tents and belongings during the past week due to airstrikes, fires, and other incidents. UN spokesperson Sherine El-Tayeb emphasized at a press conference the necessity for all parties to commit to protecting civilians and humanitarian workers.
Deterioration of Health Conditions
For her part, the World Health Organization warned of the risks of spreading viral meningitis in Gaza, amid overcrowding, the deterioration of water and sanitation infrastructure, and a shortage of essential treatments, noting that acute respiratory infections remain the most common health issue in the Strip.
OCHA renewed its call to lift restrictions on the entry of aid, humanitarian supplies, specialized equipment, and spare parts, urging member states to provide additional funding to support relief efforts.
Thousands Displaced in Hebron
In the West Bank, the office reported that approximately 3,000 Palestinians remain displaced from the city of Hebron, noting the continued closure of two neighborhoods in the city by the Israeli occupation and the imposition of restrictions on movement in the governorate.
The office warned that these measures hinder Palestinians' access to their livelihoods, education, healthcare, and essential services, calling for the protection of the population and allowing displaced persons to return safely and voluntarily to their homes, preventing further forced displacement and home demolitions, and ensuring unhindered access for humanitarian aid.
