OpenAI announced the launch of a new interactive interface in the ChatGPT app, aimed at transforming text answers into rich content that combines text, visual elements, and direct interactive tools. This step aims to facilitate the understanding of complex information and help users perform their practical tasks directly within the chat environment.
The tech website TechCrunch reported last week that the new interface is called "Intelligent UI" and is distinguished by its ability to choose the most appropriate way to display the answer according to the nature of the question asked. The response is not limited to traditional texts, but can include interactive elements specifically designed to meet the user's changing needs.
The new capabilities provided by the interface include displaying interactive charts, illustrative diagrams, and custom calculation tools for specific tasks, as well as buttons and forms that users can interact with directly. This allows them to modify inputs and explore results dynamically, making scientific and educational topics clearer and helping to complete daily tasks such as trip planning, recipe preparation, and budget calculations.
The interface can automatically determine the most appropriate form of the answer, displaying visual and interactive elements when they are useful, and sticking to text when it is sufficient to clarify the information, according to the company. The feature began rolling out globally on October 7 to subscribers of Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans, and then became available to users of the free and Go plans the following day, with its availability subject to some restrictions related to workspace settings.
This development comes in the context of AI companies' trend toward developing digital assistants that not only provide information but also allow users to interact with, explore, and apply it, while the accuracy of results and ease of use remain key factors in evaluating the effectiveness of these technologies.
