The Damascus Countryside Directorate of Endowments inaugurated, on Friday, the Aisha bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her) Mosque in the town of Hazze in the Eastern Ghouta, after completing construction and cladding works within a period not exceeding five months. The inauguration came as part of the "Our Countryside is More Beautiful" campaign, with the participation of donors and the implementation by the Takhafor Association for Humanitarian Works.
For his part, Ali Musa, the representative of the association, clarified that the residents of the town donated the land designated for the project, while the association took full responsibility for implementing the construction and furnishing works. He pointed out that the mosque covers an area of approximately 200 square meters, accommodates about 500 worshippers, and is located near the center of Hazze town.
He added that the project implementation responded to the area's need for mosques, amid the damage sustained by a large number of them in the Eastern Ghouta due to attacks by the tyrannical regime. He noted that cooperation with the Directorate of Endowments and the Damascus Countryside Endowments Department contributed to identifying the needs of towns for rehabilitation or new construction.
Musa explained that the inauguration brought joy to the hearts of the residents, expressing his hope to continue implementing similar projects. The inauguration was attended by Muhammad Ali Amer, Director of the Eastern Ghouta Area Administration, Mustafa Saqr, a member of the People's Council, and representatives from relevant authorities.
These works come within the framework of efforts aimed at reconstructing damaged places of worship and providing suitable spaces for worshippers. The Ministry of Endowments had inaugurated, on October 16, the Iman Mosque in the village of Sarha in the Damascus countryside, after completing restoration works.
