The opening of the Al-Aysawiya Health Center in early July last year in the Jabal Turkman area of northern Latakia countryside enabled residents of the village and neighboring villages to access free medical services near their homes, alleviating the hardship and costs of travel that previously hindered their access to healthcare, especially for sick children.
For his part, Adel Muhammad Sheikh Ibrahim, a patient at the center, confirmed that the area had needed a health facility for years due to its role in meeting the needs of residents of Al-Aysawiya and surrounding villages, noting that its presence facilitated access to medical services. In the same context, Adliya Ibrahim highlighted the quality of services provided, praising the medical staff's cooperation and understanding of patients' needs, as well as the provision of necessary medications.
Dr. Sarah Amin, Project Manager at SAMZ Organization and in charge of the center, clarified that the number of beneficiaries reached approximately 1,100 people in the last three months, including 210 beneficiaries of reproductive health services and 370 children who received health consultations. She noted that the center serves about 7,000 residents in Al-Aysawiya, in addition to residents of neighboring villages, including Al-Badrousia, Umm Al-Tuyur, Al-Fajr, Al-Duha, and Al-Zaytouna, as well as patients from Qastal Al-Mu'af.
For her part, Dr. Helen Diab, an internal medicine physician at the center, confirmed that the center provides minor surgical interventions such as wound suturing and dressing changes, and follows up on chronic disease patients by monitoring their health conditions. Diab pointed out the need to secure the necessary staff and equipment to activate a dental clinic and establish a laboratory for medical tests, emphasizing the importance of continuing to provide medications to ensure patients' continuity of treatment.
It is worth noting that the Latakia Directorate of Health opened the center under the patronage of the governorate and in cooperation with TIKA and SAMZ organizations, with efforts from the local community, aiming to enhance health services and facilitate residents' access to medical care.
