Minister of Health Masab Al-Ali and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Marwan Al-Halbi inaugurated the MRI department at Deir Ezzor National Hospital on Friday, to provide imaging and diagnostic medical services to patients in the governorate and the Eastern Region.
Al-Ali stated in a statement to SANA that the MRI department is ready for operation, directing thanks to those in charge of the "Deir al-Az" campaign and residents who donated to secure the device, contributing to enhancing medical services provided to citizens.
Al-Ali pointed out that the device is modern and characterized by its helium-free nature, which reduces maintenance requirements, noting that the duration of an MRI scan ranges between 20 and 40 minutes depending on the medical condition, allowing for the reception of a number of cases daily.
Expansion of Health Services
Al-Ali noted that he visited the cardiac catheterization department in the hospital, pointing out that it continues to work efficiently even during holiday days, and also clarified that the maxillofacial surgery department is ready for opening.
He added that 12 health centers across the governorate will be opened during the coming week, while the blood bank in the city of Mayadin is ready for opening, and the blood bank in Bukamal needs about ten days to complete the necessary preparations before its opening.
The Health Minister emphasized that improving the medical reality in the governorate comes within the efforts aimed at providing high-quality health services and reducing medical referrals outside Deir Ezzor, by localizing specialized services and enhancing medical capacities in the governorate and other governorates.
Precise Surgeries with French Participation
In a related context, specialized microsurgeries and precise surgeries were performed at the National Hospital within the framework of the Syrian-French Medical Conference, whose sessions began on Friday in Deir Ezzor governorate.
French doctor Philippe Valenti, specializing in orthopedic surgery and participating in the campaign, stated in a statement to SANA that he came to the governorate to provide precise orthopedic surgery services, noting that he performed six surgeries over two days despite a busy work schedule.
For his part, Alame Alawi, head of the orthopedic department at Deir Ezzor National Hospital, explained that the French doctor performed a surgery today to treat brachial plexus paralysis in a girl who had previously undergone surgery without achieving the desired results, noting that this is a precise surgery performed for the first time in the hospitals of Deir Ezzor governorate.
For his part, Jasem Al-Dhamdash, the father of the girl who underwent the surgery, thanked the participating doctors for their efforts, noting that he was unable to treat his daughter in private hospitals due to the high cost of the surgery.
It is worth noting that the conference will include scientific sessions, specialized lectures, and workshops discussing the latest developments in various medical fields, with a focus on preventive healthcare and developing health services to suit the local reality and needs.
