Pakistan condemns violations of the UN Charter in Palestine
Pakistan condemns UN Charter violations in Palestine and affirms the right of peoples to self-determination.

Pakistan expressed its deep concern today, Saturday, over the ongoing violations of the principles of the UN Charter in the occupied Palestinian territories, emphasizing in this regard the right of peoples to self-determination and the necessity of resolving international disputes exclusively through peaceful means.

The Pakistan News Agency (PINA) quoted Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif as saying in a message sent on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the adoption of the UN Charter that his country is concerned about the ongoing violations of the fundamental principles of the Charter around the world, particularly what is happening in occupied Palestine.

The Pakistani Prime Minister added that his country remains fully committed to multilateralism and believes that the United Nations must remain at the heart of international efforts to address the many challenges facing the world, stressing the importance of equality in state sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs.

For his part, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres pointed to growing international calls for reforming the international organization amid ongoing conflicts and humanitarian crises, particularly what the Gaza Strip is witnessing due to Israeli occupation violations and crimes, and launched the "United Nations 80" initiative in 2025 to enhance the organization's efficiency, improve its performance, and rationalize its resources.
