Palestinian Foreign Ministry: Ben Gvir’s Al-Aqsa Incursion Violates Historical and Legal Status
Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemns Ben Gvir’s Al-Aqsa incursion as a violation of historical and legal status.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned on Monday the incursion by Israeli minister Itamar Ben Gvir and a group of settlers into Al-Aqsa Mosque under tight protection by occupation forces, considering it a disregard for Muslim sentiments and a violation of the historical and legal status quo in the holy city.

For its part, the ministry, in a statement published on the "X" platform, expressed its rejection of repeated provocations and violations of the sanctity of Islamic and Christian holy sites, warning of the consequences of these illegal practices and Israeli measures aimed at normalizing incursions and imposing spatial and temporal division in Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Foreign Ministry added that these violations coincide with escalating attacks on holy sites in occupied Jerusalem and the continued strict restrictions on the entry of worshippers and the detention of their identities, affirming that sovereignty over the city belongs to the State of Palestine and its capital Jerusalem, and that Israel does not possess sovereignty over it.

The ministry also called on the international community and its institutions, led by the Security Council and UNESCO, to take serious action to compel Israel to respect international law and halt its violations, thereby contributing to ending the occupation and enabling the Palestinian people to attain their inalienable rights.

Ben Gvir had previously incursed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque on the eve of the Israeli "Knesset" elections scheduled for tomorrow, under tight security guard, in a move described by the Foreign Ministry as provocative and one that will not change the status quo in Jerusalem.
