On Monday morning, the Israeli occupation forces continued their systematic violations of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, by carrying out a series of airstrikes and firing artillery and drones on various areas of the besieged Strip, which led to deaths and injuries, in addition to targeting citizens' homes and residential neighborhoods.
Palestinian media reported that a Palestinian was killed following a raid carried out by an Israeli drone that targeted an inhabited house in Al-Maghazi refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. In the central Gaza Strip, Israeli artillery shelled the eastern areas of the city of Deir al-Balah, near the contact lines.
The sources said that in Gaza City, the Israeli occupation drones intensified their fire towards the homes of citizens in the vicinity of Salah al-Din Street, east of the city, while a Palestinian was killed on Monday morning by the Israeli occupation forces near the separation wall in the town of Birnbala, northeast of occupied Jerusalem.
Arrest Campaign in the West Bank and European Action Against Settlements
In the West Bank, the occupation forces have escalated their military operations since dawn through a series of extensive incursions into cities, towns and camps, including raids on homes and arrests.
The occupation army raided Balata camp, east of Nablus, and arrested a number of young men from the camp, amid similar raids in Jenin, Ramallah, Al-Bireh, Jericho and Bethlehem, while settlers set fire to a house in the village of Deir Ammar.
Politically, EU foreign ministers will discuss on Monday the possibility of taking new measures to limit trade with Israeli settlements in the West Bank.
The discussions are based on a confidential paper prepared by the European Commission that includes three options: imposing a licensing system on imports, imposing high tariffs, or banning trade altogether, based on the International Court of Justice's July 2024 advisory opinion on the illegality of the occupation.
26,000 wounded Israelis trigger a budget crisis within the occupation government
On the other hand, Hebrew media revealed the escalation of the sharp dispute within the occupation institutions over the cost of rehabilitating wounded and disabled soldiers since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza.
The Israeli government is awaiting a decision on the recommendations of a committee headed by Shlomo Mor-Yosef, which includes changes in the budget model and the way of dealing with the injured, amid warnings from the Ministry of Finance that implementing these recommendations will cost the treasury about 2.5 billion shekels annually (approximately $740 million).
The Ministry of Finance is demanding a distinction between those injured in direct military operations and others, accusing medical committees of raising disability rates in a way that grants additional privileges such as medical vehicles and housing assistance.
On the other hand, the Ministry of War rejects these accusations and confirms that since the beginning of the aggression, the Rehabilitation Department has received more than 26,000 wounded men and women, raising the total files that the department deals with from 62,000 files to 89,000 files within three years, including 17,000 soldiers suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and severe psychological crises.
According to Israeli media, the escalating financial dispute reflects the economic and social burdens of the war on Gaza within the occupation's military system. Despite the pressure of the Ministry of War to adopt the reform plan and provide immediate medical care to thousands of dead and wounded soldiers, the Ministry of Finance is blocking the proposal for fear of a severe budget deficit, especially with the continued financial bleeding on the ground and the escalation of geopolitical tensions in the region.
