Palestinian National Council Chairman Rouhi Fattouh called on Thursday to end what he described as a "war crime" represented by the policy of starving Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the worsening famine there due to the closure of crossings and the prevention of essential supplies from entering.
Fattouh noted in a statement that Israel prevents the entry of agreed quantities of food, medicines, and shelter supplies, exacerbating the catastrophic situation for approximately 2.4 million Palestinians, including 2.15 million displaced persons, under Israeli control over aid entry through major crossings such as Kerem Abu Salim, Rafah, and Beit Hanoun.
For his part, Fattouh stressed that starvation and the blockade constitute a violation of international law and a retaliatory policy, noting that the Israeli government continues shelling despite the ceasefire agreement that took effect on October 10, 2025, which resulted in the killing of 1,538 Palestinians and the injury of 5,498 others.
He added that the Palestinian people are paying the price for Israeli racist policies and electoral calculations linked to general elections, calling on US President Donald Trump's administration to exert immediate pressure to open crossings, while urging the Security Council to impose deterrent measures, as the International Court of Justice reviews South Africa's case and the International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants against Israeli officials.
