Paris Saint-Germain seeks to widen gap ahead of Le Havre
Parisians host Le Havre in the ninth round of Ligue 1 amid major injury absences, while Nice seeks to return to the right path.

Saint-Germain leads the league

The French first football team Paris Saint-Germain, which has regained the top spot in the local league, seeks to continue its progress when it hosts Le Havre on Friday, within the ninth round competitions. Rennes, the second-placed team, trails by 16 points, just one point behind the Parisians, who host Nice in an attempt to continue chasing the team of Spanish coach Luis Enrique. The team also seeks to widen the gap over Lille and Monaco, third and fourth place respectively, with 15 points each.

Injury absences and Godts' brilliance

Saint-Germain, which defeated English Manchester City and Spanish Barcelona in the Champions League, has imposed its dominance on Ligue 1 competitions for several weeks, achieving five consecutive victories. Despite the absence of Georgian Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who will be sidelined for several months due to a right knee ligament tear sustained during the match against the Catalan team, as well as Ousmane Dembele, Brazilian Marquinhos, and Portuguese Nuno Mendes, due to injury, Saint-Germain possesses a bench capable of compensation. Belgian Myckel Godts, who scored his first goal for the Parisian club after coming on as a substitute against Lyon, has shown signs that the Georgian's absence may not be very influential, at least domestically.

Le Havre at the bottom and Nice seeks revival

The match against Le Havre appears completely unequal, as the Norman team sits at the bottom of the table after four consecutive defeats. In the other match, seventh-placed Nice, with 13 points, has regained much of its shine recently, after a shaky start in Ligue 1 and struggles in the Champions League, confirming its victory over Paris FC, which is its third consecutive league win, signaling its return to the right path. Yannick Kozak's players face the match under conditions suggesting a strong confrontation, as is always the case in the North derby. Meanwhile, Lille settled for two consecutive league draws, the latest against Monaco, which are relatively disappointing results. Lille's performance in the Champions League has not been better, having suffered three defeats in three matches, making the team in urgent need of a reference match to relaunch its season.
