Planning Authority and UNIDO Discuss Enhancing Industrial Cooperation
Officials discuss strengthening industrial policy cooperation and statistical capacity building in Syria.

The head of the Planning and Statistics Authority, Anas Salim, held talks with Kamal Al-Abaseri, Director of the UNIDO Regional Office for the Arab Region, and his accompanying delegation, to explore ways to enhance cooperation in industrial policies, industrial statistics, and building necessary capacities.

On his part, Salim presented the Authority's current work status, emphasizing the importance of giving the industrial sector in Syria significant attention through the formulation of appropriate strategies for this vital sector and industrial policies that support the growth and development process in Syria, in collaboration with relevant government entities and all international partners.

He added that continued cooperation with the organization aims to achieve accurate industrial surveys that contribute to providing statistical figures serving the industrial development process in Syria.

Al-Abaseri indicated his vision regarding updates to the Industrial Recovery Program revised by the Syrian Ministry of Industry, Internal Trade, and Consumer Protection, and the UN Industrial Development Organization for the period 2026-2030, as well as the technical interventions UNIDO can provide in the field of technical support for policies, industrial statistics, and building necessary capacities for Syrian national entities.

It is worth noting that UNIDO has implemented activities in Syria to support industrial sectors, including food industries, launching a specialized workshop titled "Enhancing Market Access and Marketing Readiness" on September 16, 2025.
