Prince Ali bin Al-Hussein confirms Jordan's independent vote in FIFA elections
Jordanian FA president affirms independent voting in FIFA elections and respects the Asian Confederation.

Prince Ali bin Al-Hussein, President of the Jordanian Football Association, announced that his country will cast its vote with complete independence in the upcoming elections for the presidency of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), while expressing his respect for the Asian Confederation and his readiness to fully cooperate with any measures it takes. This announcement comes as his first comment since the continental federation referred him to its judicial bodies following his criticisms of the proceedings of the Extraordinary General Assembly held recently in Tokyo, and his remarks regarding decision-making mechanisms within the organization.

Ali bin Al-Hussein clarified, in a post broadcast via his official account on the social media platform 'X', that he had reviewed the Asian Confederation's statement issued on October 27, stating: "My previous statements aimed to explain the voting mechanism in the FIFA presidential elections and emphasize the importance of transparency in the management of football affairs." The President of the Jordanian Football Association added: "I hold the Asian Football Confederation and its judicial bodies in the highest regard, and I will fully cooperate with any measures. According to the FIFA Statutes, the Jordanian Football Association will cast its vote in the FIFA presidential elections with complete independence, and I will not make any further comments as long as the matter is under consideration."

Ali bin Al-Hussein continued: "My post dated October 25 explained the voting mechanism in the FIFA presidential elections, noting that each member association casts its own vote. I also expressed my view on the importance of transparency in football governance. The last sentence confirms a principle shared by the entire football family: that no elections should be subject to coercion, threats, or bribery. I adhere to this principle, and that sentence was an affirmation of a principle, not an accusation against any individual. Wherever concerns exist, their proper place is with the competent authorities." The Asian Football Confederation announced last Tuesday referring Ali bin Al-Hussein's statements to its judicial bodies, after he criticized the Extraordinary General Assembly meeting in Tokyo, the Japanese capital, where Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the President of the Confederation, revealed his support for the re-election of Gianni Infantino as FIFA President.
