Prisoner Organizations: Over 90 Palestinian Prisoners Face Violations in Occupation Prisons
Prisoner organizations reveal systematic violations against over 90 Palestinian women in Israeli prisons since the Gaza war began.

Palestinian prisoner organizations revealed that more than 90 Palestinian women have been arrested in Israeli occupation prisons, facing systematic violations and crimes that have worsened since the start of the war on the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian News Agency (Wafa) quoted these organizations in a statement issued on the occasion of the Palestinian National Women’s Day, confirming that the violations include physical and psychological torture, starvation, denial of medical treatment, and sexual assaults, including strip searches, harassment, and threats of rape.

The organizations clarified that the spread of scabies among female prisoners, amid harsh conditions and denial of hygiene and medical supplies, has caused daily suffering including itching, pain, and sleep disorders. They accused the prison administration of denying the spread of the disease and refusing to provide necessary treatment. They noted that human rights organizations have documented more than 810 arrest cases of Palestinian women since October 7, 2023, in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and the territories occupied in 1948, without accurate statistics regarding detainees from the Gaza Strip.

The list of female prisoners includes more than 90 detainees, among them two children and 22 administrative detainees, as well as women suffering from illnesses including cancer, and two pregnant prisoners. The organizations pointed to the escalating policy of arresting women as hostages to pressure families, and called on the international human rights system to take concrete measures for accountability and to end the culture of impunity. The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics had revealed that women and children accounted for 70% of the killed, 69% of the total wounded, and 70% of the missing among the victims of the aggression.
