Prisoners' Club: Israel re-arrested around 80 released prisoners
The Palestinian Prisoners' Club announced on Tuesday that Israel had re-arrested around 80 Palestinians who had been released in previous exchange deals, while summoning others for interrogation, a year after the October 2025 deal.

The Palestinian Prisoners' Club announced on Tuesday that Israel had re-arrested around 80 Palestinians who had been released in previous exchange deals, while summoning others for interrogation, a year after the October 2025 deal.

The Club stated in a statement marking the first anniversary of the exchange deal on October 13, 2025, that the suffering of prisoners does not end with their release, as they face the risk of re-arrest, threats, persecution, and measures affecting them and their families.

Violations inside prisons

The Prisoners' Club linked the targeting of released prisoners to the violations that Palestinian prisoners and detainees are subjected to inside prisons and detention centers, which have escalated since the beginning of the Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip in October 2023.

It clarified that these violations include torture, ill-treatment, starvation, and denial of medical treatment, along with isolation and retaliatory measures, noting that scenes of prisoner releases showed signs of physical and psychological torture, especially among those released from the Gaza Strip.

The Club said that systematic torture inside prisons led to the martyrdom of more than 100 Palestinian prisoners and detainees, with the identities of 92 of them announced.

Deal details

According to the statement, last year's deal included the release of 1,968 Palestinian prisoners, including 250 sentenced to life imprisonment and prisoners with high sentences, as well as 1,718 detainees from the Gaza Strip who were arrested during the war.

On October 10, 2025, the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Israel and Hamas officially entered into force, after two years of Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip, following mediation efforts led by the United States according to President Donald Trump's plan, with the participation of Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey.

The Club added that this was preceded by the release of 240 prisoners in November 2023, and then 1,777 prisoners in January and February 2025, bringing the total number of released prisoners in the three deals to 3,985.
