A protest rally was held in the town of Saesae, part of the Qatana area in rural Damascus, on Friday, to reject the continuous Israeli incursions and attacks in Quneitra and southern Syria, and to affirm the unity of public opinion in defending Syrian territorial sovereignty.
Participants in the rally, which carried the slogan "Quneitra is not alone... Southern Syria is a unifying national issue," expressed their rejection of repeated Israeli violations and attacks on Syrian land, calling on the United Nations and the International Security Council to assume their responsibilities and take urgent action to stop them, and to respect Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
For his part, Nazzal Nazzal, head of the Saesae Peace Committee, stated that the rally expresses a firm rejection of Israeli attacks and violations, and embodies the solidarity of the Syrian people with their compatriots in Daraa and Quneitra, affirming the unity of the Syrian people and their steadfast stance in rejecting and condemning anything that undermines national sovereignty.
Citizen Mamdouh Al-Tahan added his call for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to send specialized committees to investigate the uprooting of fruit and forest trees in Quneitra province and the border strip, assess damages, compensate the victims, and work on replanting damaged trees under UN supervision.
Several governorates witnessed protest rallies on Friday condemning Israeli incursions and attacks on Daraa and Quneitra, with participation from locals, relatives of victims, and detainees held by occupation forces during their incursions in southern Syria.
Occupation forces continue to violate the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through repeated incursions in southern Syria, raiding civilian homes, arresting individuals, leveling land, and carrying out attacks with shells and other means.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates had condemned in the strongest terms the escalation of Israeli occupation incursions in Quneitra and Daraa over the past days, coinciding with intensified flights of helicopters, reconnaissance aircraft, and warplanes in the skies of southern Syria, considering this a blatant violation of Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a threat to the security and safety of citizens.
