The Kremlin said that a lengthy call between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, which lasted for more than an hour, constituted a remarkable political station in which the files of Ukraine, Iran and bilateral relations intertwined at a sensitive moment in the international scene.
Russian President Yuri Ushakov explained that the call lasted 84 minutes and came at the initiative of the United States to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States, indicating that Putin gave the US president a detailed presentation of the situation on the line of contact in Ukraine, stressing that Russian forces are "advancing with confidence and liberating town after town," and that Kyiv and the European Union's assessments of the situation are "wrong and unrealistic."
Trump reiterated his readiness to help end the fighting as soon as possible, stressing that "stopping the conflict is a prerequisite for opening up prospects for broad economic cooperation between Moscow and Washington," an axis that both sides said needed "constant contacts" at the political, military and economic levels, according to the Russian president's aide.
The Iranian file is present... Putin offers help
Putin and Trump discussed the situation around Iran, with Putin expressing hope that the ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran will lead to long-term solutions, stressing Russia's readiness to provide "practical assistance" to de-escalation efforts.
Putin stressed that Trump has an open invitation to visit Russia at any time, praising the widespread celebrations witnessed by the United States on its Independence Day.
Ushakov noted that the two presidents discussed the imminent dispatch of a joint Russian-American crew to the International Space Station from the Baikonur base, where they considered the move "a concrete example of the desire of the two powers to work together."
Russians document Putin-Trump calls
According to statistics from the Russian news agency TASS, this is the fourteenth call between Putin and Trump since the latter's return to the presidency at the beginning of 2025, reflecting the continuation of direct communication channels between Moscow and Washington despite the contentious files.
The agency indicated that 4 calls took place between the two leaders since the beginning of 2026, while 2025 witnessed ten phone calls.
The previous call, according to the announced information, took place on June 14 , coinciding with Trump's celebration of his 80th birthday, while the last call came at the initiative of the American side, coinciding with the United States' celebration of the 250th anniversary of independence.
