Qualification of two schools in Bosra al-Sham to improve the educational environment
The Daraa Directorate of Education completes the qualification of two schools in Bosra al-Sham to enhance educational stability.

The Daraa Directorate of Education, in cooperation with Mar Afrem the Syrian Patriarchate Development Organization, has completed the rehabilitation and maintenance works of two schools in the city of Bosra al-Sham in eastern Daraa countryside. The goal is to improve the school environment, organize the educational process, and return damaged facilities to service, thereby contributing to reducing student density and limiting afternoon shifts in neighboring schools.

Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al-Miqdad, head of the student affairs section in the Bosra Educational Complex, explained in a statement to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) on Monday that the qualification of the two schools represents an important step within the complex's plan to organize the educational process in the city and its suburbs. This is achieved by distributing schools according to a school map covering neighborhoods and areas, which helps accommodate students and reduce pressure on operating schools.

Al-Miqdad noted that Bosra al-Sham contains 22 schools, most of which face difficulties, while some remain out of service and require partial rehabilitation works. He clarified that returning the two schools to operation will help accommodate the growing number of students and organize their distribution among schools. He pointed out that a key result of the rehabilitation is ending afternoon shifts in neighboring schools and switching to morning shifts.

Psychological and educational stability

For her part, Fatima Mustafa Al-Radi, principal of Bosra Second Basic Education School, explained that the return of pupils to their classrooms restored their joy and sense of stability after a period during which they were forced to continue their studies in other schools, accompanied by fragmentation and disruption in their academic regularity. She added that providing an educational environment close to students' residences saves time and distance, especially in the basic education stage.

Al-Radi added that an educational course launched in cooperation with the organization, coinciding with the school's return to operation, targets students with low academic achievement from the school and others. The aim is to raise their level and help them keep up with modern curricula, thereby enhancing their chances of academic success.

Comprehensive rehabilitation and facilities

For his part, the supervising engineer Munis Mansour Al-Samara clarified that the rehabilitation of Abdul Karim Al-Najm School included verifying structural safety, executing cladding and insulation works to prevent rainwater leakage in winter, and painting classroom and administrative rooms according to Ministry of Education instructions, alongside completing mechanical and electrical fittings.

Al-Samara stated that the school required extensive structural, mechanical, and electrical works due to exposure to shelling by the ousted regime's aircraft. He indicated that rehabilitation works are nearing completion and the school is scheduled to enter service at the beginning of next month. Additionally, restrooms for persons with disabilities were created, courtyards and playgrounds were rehabilitated, and an alternative energy system was installed to meet the school's needs.

The rehabilitation works fall within the plan of the Daraa Directorate of Education, in cooperation with the local community and international humanitarian organizations, to restore damaged educational facilities, return them to service, reduce student density, and comprehensively and sustainably improve school facilities.
