Several representatives of local companies participating in the "Cement Industry and Concrete Batching in Syria 2026" conference and exhibition emphasized the importance of national products and technologies in supporting the construction sector and enhancing infrastructure projects, pointing to the role of local industry in meeting market needs and contributing to reconstruction efforts.
Ayn Issa project and advanced technology
Mohammed Aminou, Quality Control Director at Al-Hasan Holding Group, told SANA on Saturday that the cement plant project in Ayn Issa, in the countryside of Raqqa Governorate, whose foundation stone was laid a few days ago, will be implemented using advanced technology that contributes to reducing production costs, limiting environmental emissions, and providing new job opportunities.
The Ministry of Economy and Industry, in cooperation with the Raqqa Governorate, laid the foundation stone for the project last Tuesday. The project is implemented in coordination between Al-Hasan Holding Group and the ministry, in partnership with a Chinese company. Its production capacity exceeds 6,000 tons per day and provides about 800 job opportunities.
Sector recovery and exchange of expertise
Aminou pointed out the recovery of the cement sector in Syria during last year, with the signing of contracts for the investment and construction of new plants. He stressed the importance of specialized exhibitions in exchanging expertise between Syrian and foreign companies and experts, and learning about modern technologies, which contributes to developing local production and enhancing industrial cooperation.
Georgy Khawam, Managing Director of Khawam for Import and Distribution, stated that the Cement and Concrete Batching Industry Exhibition constitutes an important specialized platform in the reconstruction stage, as it provides opportunities to connect with companies and plants and learn about their needs for necessary equipment and facilities for work and production.
Energy alternatives and cost reduction
For his part, Mehran Al-Nafouri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nafouri for Integrated Solutions, noted that the company's participation in the exhibition aims to highlight the importance of introducing alternative energy systems to cement plants, as they provide a reduction in production costs and improve operational efficiency. He explained that electricity accounts for about 27 percent of the product's cost.
Al-Nafouri pointed out that the use of alternative energy systems and batteries helps mitigate the impact of power outages and reduce operational losses in cement plants, thereby helping to lower production costs and improve the ability to meet market needs during the reconstruction phase.
Enhancing local industrial integration
Bara'a Al-Hamssi, Public Relations Director at Al-Mateen Group, emphasized the importance of participating in the exhibition to connect with cement factories in Syria and neighboring countries, introduce the group's products, and exchange expertise. This contributes to meeting the needs of the cement industry, particularly for automatic closure polypropylene bags intended for cement packaging, and enhancing the integration of local industries related to it.
The events of the "Cement Industry and Concrete Batching in Syria 2026" conference and exhibition, organized by "Sim Tech" Group in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Industry, launched two days ago on Thursday at the Damascus Exhibition City. The event features participation from about 50 local, regional, and international companies from nine countries operating in commercial, industrial, and service sectors related to the cement and concrete batching industry.
