The Latakia branch of the Syrian Construction and Building Establishment restarted its automated block plant last month, following rehabilitation and maintenance works carried out using local technical expertise. This step aims to reinvest available production facilities and enhance their capacity to meet the material needs of projects.
Fater Ahmed, head of the industrial works department at the branch, explained that specialized workers and technicians from integrated companies managed to return the plant to service with high production capacity and according to standard specifications. He also noted the rehabilitation of other specialized production centers for metal and wooden works, as well as the paint plant, which are currently under investment to cover the branch's project needs.
For his part, plant manager Hussam Shihada stated that rehabilitation works were carried out by the establishment's own workshops at low costs. He clarified that the plant can produce approximately 3,500 to 4,000 block pieces daily in various sizes (10, 15, and 20 cm), in addition to Hordi blocks in sizes 14, 16, and 18 cm.
Shihada pointed out that the plant's production capacity allows it to cover the branch's project needs, as well as the possibility of meeting local market demands. He explained that the products undergo tests according to standard specifications at the University of Latakia, ensuring their quality and competitiveness in terms of specifications and prices.
The restart of the block plant is significant for providing a basic construction requirement for the establishment's projects and enhancing reliance on self-production instead of purchasing materials from the market. This contributes to reducing implementation costs and accelerating project completion, while also benefiting from local technical expertise and reemploying available production capacities.
He noted that this step enhances the branch's ability to meet local market demands at competitive prices, which positively reflects on the efficiency of available construction projects in the region.
