The General Establishment for Road Transport, in cooperation with the Qatari Al-Mahandi Roads and Contracting Company, completed today, Saturday, the topographic survey works for the Tanf-Busayra road project and the Sab' Biyar link, which is 215 kilometers long, in just seven hours.
The establishment used the digital three-dimensional mobile survey device "Leica Pegasus TRK300" to complete these works, in a step described by the establishment's Director General, Mu'ath Najjar, as important towards employing modern engineering technologies to ensure accuracy and speed in implementing projects according to required technical specifications.
Najjar pointed out that the device features accuracy reaching the centimeter level and a working speed of approximately 30 kilometers per hour, noting that the establishment also possesses modern Global Positioning System (GPS) devices and is working to train its technical staff to enhance institutional work efficiency.
For his part, Husam Rabah, the project manager for the Tanf-Busayra-Sab' Biyar road at the executing company, clarified that the device is capable of capturing more than 1.2 million points per second, equipped with panoramic cameras covering 360 degrees, allowing data upload to cloud platforms to form a three-dimensional digital database.
Rabah highlighted that completing the topographic survey in a record time contributes to reducing human errors, affirming the company's readiness to provide technical support to Syrian staff and transfer expertise in implementing infrastructure projects.
The road rehabilitation project includes rehabilitating and maintaining the existing road, treating subsidence, completely renewing the asphalt layer, in addition to equipping it with traffic safety requirements, and constructing a second parallel lane to convert the axis into a double-directional two-way lane according to the highest engineering standards.
