Rodgers leads Al-Qadsiah to temporary top spot with 67 goals
Brendan Rodgers guides Al-Qadsiah to temporary Saudi Pro League summit after 2-1 win over Abha.

Northern Irish manager Brendan Rodgers has built the outlines of his project with Al-Qadsiah on continuity and attacking effectiveness, after leading the team to the top of the temporary Saudi Pro League table following a 2-1 victory over Abha in the ninth round of the current season.

In the same context, the manager revealed the extent of the transformation he has brought to the team's trajectory since taking charge in December last year. Al-Qadsiah lost only once in his first 25 league matches, scoring the highest number of goals during his tenure, giving this current start a broader context than merely a temporary lead in the standings.

For his part, Al-Qadsiah raised their tally to 22 points from nine matches, achieving seven wins, one draw, and one loss, scoring 23 goals against nine in their own net, with a goal difference of 14. Their scoring rate averages 2.56 goals per match, while their average goals conceded is one.

Rodgers added that he praised his players' mentality and their ability to fight until the end, attributing credit to both key starters and substitutes. He noted that the team handled the short recovery period well, while acknowledging that Al-Qadsiah still needs to improve despite leading the table.

He pointed out that resting Mexican player Julian Quiñones against Abha was part of his plan given the proximity of match schedules, in an effort to maintain the team's readiness throughout the season, especially with the club participating in the Elite Asian Champions Cup alongside the domestic league.

The team faces important matches to test its ability to convert current figures into a stable trajectory, as it faces Al-Taawoun on October 20, followed by Al-Hilal on October 23. These two clashes will test Rodgers' ability to balance rotation with maintaining cohesion.
