Royal Institute 'Warath' Organizes Cultural Camp in Asir with 50 Participants
The Royal Institute for Traditional Arts 'Warath' launches its third camp in Asir with 50 participants to teach traditional crafts.

The Royal Institute for Traditional Arts 'Warath' announces the launch of the third edition of its camp in the Asir region, with the participation of 50 participants from various Saudi regions. This cultural event aims to provide a comprehensive educational experience that combines theoretical and practical aspects in the field of traditional crafts.

Specialized Training Tracks

The camp focuses on three main training tracks, including traditional stone construction, traditional hand embroidery, and traditional metalwork. Participants engage in practical workshops where they learn about the tools, techniques, and execution stages of these crafts, contributing to the development of their skills in handling materials and applying artistic methods associated with each track.

Collective Artistic Outputs

The knowledge and skills acquired during the camp are transformed into collective artistic outputs inspired by Asir's arts and architecture. These outputs include 'Windows of Tomorrow,' a stone wall inspired by Sarwat windows, 'Weave of Architecture,' an embroidery mural inspired by the architecture of Al-Rijal Almaa, as well as a collective work using metal forming techniques.

Cultural and Heritage Activities

The camp allows participants the opportunity to learn directly from Saudi artisans and exchange experiences and knowledge among themselves. Cultural trips and community activities enrich participants' experiences through visits to Al-Rijal Almaa, Al-Yanaaf Heritage Village, Abu Sarah Palaces, Fatima Museum, and Al-Soudah Market, enhancing their interaction with the local community and expanding their knowledge of the cultural and architectural heritage of the Asir region.

Royal Institute's Strategy

The camp comes within the efforts of 'Warath' to support Saudi talents, transfer craft knowledge, and enhance the sustainability of traditional arts. Since 2021, the Royal Institute for Traditional Arts has embarked on its journey to become a distinctive cultural institution for training Saudi cadres passionate about learning and practicing traditional arts, according to a strategy aimed at empowering the crafts and arts sector.
