Russia intercepts 1214 drones; Ukraine reports casualties in reciprocal attacks
Russia and Ukraine exchanged drone attacks, with Moscow claiming over 1200 interceptions and Kyiv reporting casualties and damage.

Russia and Ukraine exchanged drone attacks during the past night, with Moscow announcing the interception of more than 1,200 Ukrainian drones over Russian areas, while Kyiv spoke of Russian attacks that caused casualties and material damage.

Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform quoted Oleksandr Hanka, head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration, as saying that Russian forces launched approximately 20 drone attacks on the city of Dnipro, resulting in damage to a commercial facility and injuring one man.

Russian shelling also targeted the city of Nikopol, and the areas of Marhanets, Chervonoherhorivka, and Mirove, causing damage to an administrative building, infrastructure, and a residential building. In the city of Kharkiv, other drone attacks targeted the Kholodnohirskyi and Saltiv districts, while the city’s mayor, Ihor Terekhov, reported via his Telegram channel that a fire broke out at the site of one of the strikes.

In a related development, the Ukrainian State Emergency Service announced via its Telegram channel that two of its employees were killed during a mine clearance operation in the Shostka area.

For her part, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that Russian air defenses intercepted 613 drones targeting the capital between 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday and 7:00 a.m. today, noting that most were neutralized at long distances from the city.

The Russian Federal Air Transport Agency reported temporary restrictions on air traffic at Zhukovsky, Domodedovo, and Vnukovo airports in the Moscow suburbs during the night and early morning hours. For its part, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced in a statement this morning that it had intercepted and destroyed 1,214 Ukrainian drones over 19 Russian regions during the past night.

In response, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its drones targeted a ship carrying military supplies to the port of Odesa in southern Ukraine, as well as a logistics center in Kharkiv containing military and dual-use supplies, and two sub-stations in Volyn province in the west of the country, which it said supplied power to military industrial facilities.

These attacks come as diplomatic efforts continue to resume negotiations on the war between the two countries, amid expectations of a meeting involving representatives from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States in the UAE next November, aimed at reviving the peace process stalled since the beginning of this year.
