The battlefield between Russia and Ukraine witnessed mutual strikes targeting vital facilities, resulting in casualties and injuries, coinciding with diplomatic activity in which the Ukrainian side showed flexibility towards a trilateral meeting proposal involving the United States, Russia, and Ukraine, while Moscow insisted on continuing its military operations.
Russian Bombardment Causes Casualties
The Ukrainian news agency "Ukrinform", citing local authorities, reported that the capital Kyiv was subjected to an intense Russian attack with ballistic missiles, resulting in the death of two people and injuries to eight others, along with severe material damage. "Oleh Synegubov", governor of the Kharkiv region, announced that six people were killed and eight others were injured in a Russian attack on a farm in one of the villages in the region early today.
In Odesa, local authorities announced that the region was subjected to an intense Russian attack last night targeting civilian infrastructure, resulting in two injuries and damage to wide-ranging vital facilities.
Neutralization of Russian Drones and Missiles
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Air Force announced that Russian forces launched a wide-scale attack with 282 drones, "Zircon" anti-ship missiles, and ballistic missiles, where Ukrainian air defenses managed to neutralize 4 "Zircon" missiles, 3 ballistic missiles, and "Panderol" suicide ammunition, in addition to shooting down 219 drones. This attack coincided with a field escalation, as the frontline witnessed 277 combat clashes between Ukrainian defense forces and Russian forces on the same day.
Moscow Shoots Down Ukrainian Drones
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced today that its forces targeted Ukrainian military industry institutions, communication and logistics centers in Kyiv and the Odesa region, as well as deployed Ukrainian naval ships, using high-precision ground and air weapons and drones. Russian Belgorod region governor Alexander Shovayev said that Ukrainian forces attacked the border region 33 times during the past 24 hours, and Russian air defense systems managed to shoot down 62 drones in its airspace.
Kyiv Ready for Trilateral Meeting
Ukrainian President "Volodymyr Zelenskyy" announced his country's readiness to support an American proposal to hold a crucial trilateral meeting bringing together Ukraine, the United States, and Russia on the sidelines of the G20 summit, scheduled for December next year, to discuss ways to stop the ceasefire. Zelenskyy clarified in statements to journalists from New York that the success of this diplomatic path relies on the influential presence of US President Donald Trump and broad representation of group countries such as China, India, and the Middle East.
Russia to Continue Military Operations
For its part, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that his country is ready for negotiations on a long-term and sustainable settlement in Ukraine, but it will not stop the special military operation during the negotiation period, adding that "stopping the war would pave the way to strengthen Kyiv's depleted arsenals". These field developments and diplomatic moves come at a time when both sides are seeking to strengthen their leverage before any potential negotiation table.
