Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam warned on Wednesday against the danger of dragging Lebanon into a new adventure and involving it in a confrontation with dire consequences, in service of foreign parties' interests. Salam stressed that protecting Lebanon is a national responsibility that requires prioritizing its supreme interests over any other consideration, while affirming that the decision of war and peace must remain exclusively with the state and its constitutional institutions.
Rejection of Imposed Destiny
Salam added in a statement to journalists after his meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun: "We will not accept that a destiny not chosen by Lebanese people is imposed upon them, or that their homeland is turned again into a battlefield for others' conflicts." He pointed out the duty to safeguard sovereignty, protect the people, and spare them from a new war, condemning Hezbollah militia's involvement in supporting the Houthis in Yemen.
Condemnation of Interventions
The Prime Minister strongly condemned any involvement of Lebanese elements or groups in the internal affairs of Arab countries, especially carrying out any military activities that threaten their security and integrity. He expressed Lebanon's strong commitment to respecting the sovereignty and security of Arab countries, and its aspiration to strengthen its relations with them on the basis of mutual trust.
Revelation of Iranian Intervention
For its part, the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed yesterday the continuation of military interventions by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and Hezbollah militia in Yemen's internal affairs. It clarified that 21 foreign experts working with the militia include 14 from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and 7 from Hezbollah militia, revealing the scale and severity of the intervention, which goes beyond funding to direct supervision and participation in planning.
