The Sami Humanitarian Association in the city of Qusayr in the countryside of Homs opened today, Wednesday, two initiatives, "Study Corner" and "Access is a Right for All," under the patronage of the Qusayr District Administration. The two initiatives aim to provide a suitable environment for reading and learning, and to facilitate access for people with disabilities to service institutions and places of worship.
The "Access is a Right for All" initiative involves installing ramps in several government offices and mosques, enabling people with disabilities, the elderly, and pregnant women to access facilities and benefit from their services with greater ease and independence. Meanwhile, the "Study Corner" initiative, held on Al-Fran Al-Awali Street, provides a quiet space for students equipped with internet access and heating facilities.
Qusayr Municipality Council Chairman Tariq Hassouwa explained that the two initiatives contribute to meeting the needs of residents by facilitating access for people with disabilities to service institutions and providing a quiet space for students to follow up on their studies. For his part, Sami Humanitarian Association representative Zaid Harba stated that the ramp installation initiative aims to enhance everyone's right to access institutions.
One of the people with disabilities in Qusayr, Anas Al-Ahmad, pointed out that accessing service institutions was previously difficult, as he had to wait outside under the sun or rain. He noted that the new ramps enabled him to enter offices and complete his transactions with greater independence. Meanwhile, student Jalnar Qaddour clarified that the "Study Corner" provides a space that helps students focus away from noise, calling on students to benefit from its services.
These two initiatives come within the framework of community efforts aimed at improving the educational environment and enhancing accessibility to public facilities, thereby meeting the needs of different segments of the local community.
