Saudi Arabia and the Muslim World League condemn targeting of the Two Holy Mosques
Saudi authorities and the Muslim World League strongly condemn Houthi attacks on Mecca and Medina.

The Presidency of Religious Affairs for the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque and the Muslim World League strongly condemned on Sunday the continued attacks by the Houthi militia on Mecca and Medina, expressing their firm rejection of targeting religious sanctuaries and violating their sanctity.

Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais, Head of Religious Affairs for the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, Imam and Preacher of the Grand Mosque, stated that these criminal acts constitute a heinous crime and a blatant violation of the sanctity of the Holy City and the City of the Messenger of God, as well as a blatant violation of Islamic Sharia teachings that prohibit aggression and corruption on earth.

For his part, Sheikh Al-Sudais emphasized that the repeated targeting of Mecca and Medina reveals the malicious intentions of the Houthi militia towards Muslims and their sanctuaries, stressing that these attacks contradict the principles and tolerant values of Islam, have no connection to supporting the religion, and are contrary to its teachings and the example of the Noble Prophet.

He pointed out that targeting sanctuaries, civilians, and facilities is a crime prohibited by Sharia, condemned by humanity, and contrary to international covenants and customs, affirming that these attacks will not undermine the security and stability of the Kingdom, nor will they increase its leadership and people’s resolve and determination to protect the sanctuaries.

For her part, the Muslim World League condemned the attacks. Its Secretary-General, Chairman of the Council of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkreem Al-Issa, denounced the terrorist approach of the Houthi militia and warned of the danger of these attacks, which represent a violation of the sanctity of religious sites and a provocation to the feelings of more than two billion Muslims.

Al-Issa, on behalf of the League’s assemblies, bodies, and its global councils and the Islamic peoples under its umbrella, reaffirmed full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all measures it takes to deter attacks, safeguard the sanctity of the holy sites, and protect the lives of the secure.

The coalition announced on Saturday the interception and destruction of a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia towards Riyadh, while the Saudi Civil Defense reported that fragments from the interception of two ballistic missiles launched by the militia towards the Mecca and Medina regions fell.
