Saudi Arabia: Tehran Visit to De-escalate Tensions and Encourage Diplomacy
Saudi Foreign Ministry says high-level Tehran visit aims to lower regional tensions and support Qatari and Pakistani mediation efforts.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the visit of Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman and representatives of the Mecca Agreement countries for Joint Defense to the Iranian capital Tehran, comes within the framework of efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions between the parties to the current crisis, encouraging dialogue and diplomatic solutions, and supporting mediation efforts undertaken by Qatar and Pakistan.

The Ministry said in a statement on Monday on the "X" platform: The Kingdom looks forward to the positive and practical response of the crisis parties to the results of the visit and the continuous efforts made by Qatar and Pakistan, which contribute to resolving the crisis through dialogue and diplomacy, emphasizing the importance of opening negotiation channels to prevent the return of military escalation in the region, paving the way for an agreement that ends the crisis and achieves security and peace in the region and the world.

The statement stressed the pivotal role of the Mecca Agreement countries for Joint Defense in enhancing the security and stability of the region, and working with various countries to achieve regional and international peace.

High-level delegations from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan began talks today in Tehran with Iranian officials, as part of efforts to contain regional escalation and prevent the resumption of confrontation.

The visit included Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, Pakistani Army Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, and Turkish Intelligence Agency Head Ibrahim Kalin.

The talks come amid escalating regional tensions, while Qatar and Pakistan support mediation efforts aimed at enhancing dialogue and reaching understandings that prevent the confrontation from widening.
