Saudi Aramco acquires 49% stake in Humain AI
Saudi Aramco announces acquisition of 49% stake in AI firm Humain for $2.6 billion.

Saudi Aramco announced on Sunday its acquisition of a 49% stake in "Humain," an artificial intelligence specialist, while the Saudi Public Investment Fund holds the remaining 51% stake. This strategic deal was completed through a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aramco, aiming to enhance the company's technical capabilities and expand its global operations.

Deal and Investment Details

A joint statement from the Public Investment Fund and Aramco clarified that the deal includes cash contributions from Aramco valued at approximately 9.9 billion Saudi riyals, equivalent to about 2.6 billion US dollars in 2026, alongside assets in AI, computing, and digital assets. The agency noted that these investments will directly accelerate Humain's growth and enhance its technical capabilities.

Industrial Applications and Realized Value

For his part, Aramco CEO Amin Nasser emphasized that the deal is "very important" for the company, noting that the value realized from technology usage at Aramco since 2023 reached 42.4 billion riyals, equivalent to approximately 11.31 billion dollars. He added that a significant portion of this value came from technical solutions, particularly AI applications, strengthening its business and operations globally.

Company Background

Humain was launched in May 2025 as part of Saudi efforts to leverage AI to diversify its economy and enhance its ambition to become a global hub in this field. In November of the same year, the company announced a partnership with US tech giant Nvidia, following US authorities' approval to export advanced chips manufactured by the company to Saudi Arabia.
