The Horse Racing Club announced the launch of a specialized academy aimed at developing the equestrian system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through comprehensive educational and training programs. The academy's efforts focus on rehabilitating racehorses after the end of their competitive careers, alongside enhancing professional skills and supporting community participation in this sports sector.
In the context of rehabilitation, the academy provides an integrated pathway for racehorses after retirement, where they are retrained to transition into other equestrian fields such as show jumping and dressage. The academy employs the horses and the club's environment as an educational platform for school students and the community, providing opportunities for learning and exposure to the world of horses for children and families.
The specialized programs include riding lessons in both English and Western styles, practical veterinary training in collaboration with King Faisal University, as well as workshops in farriery and horse nutrition. The professional tracks target jockeys, trainers, and horse owners, thereby supporting the preparation of the next generation of competencies in the equestrian sector.
The academy includes 60 stables and an air-conditioned indoor arena, which is the only one of its kind in Saudi Arabia, providing a comprehensive environment for year-round training. Prince Salman bin Abdullah bin Salman, the Club's Chief Executive Officer, confirmed that the academy is a step toward building a sustainable system for developing national competencies.
Prince Salman pointed out that the academy is distinguished as the only one globally located inside a horse racing track, providing a unique educational environment. For her part, Dr. Francesca Compostella, the Club's Chief Executive Officer for Integrity and Development, confirmed that the academy combines specialized knowledge with responsible horse care, and is a member of the International Forum for Racehorse Welfare.
