A specialized scientific seminar on interventional cardiology in children, held today, Saturday, at the Sheraton Hotel in Aleppo, discussed the latest developments in the diagnosis and treatment of heart diseases in children using catheterization techniques and modern cardiac interventions.

The seminar was attended by doctors and experts from Syria and Turkey. The event was organized by Duwa Hospital in Jarabulus and Gaziantep University in Turkey, in collaboration with Gaziantep University, with the aim of enhancing the exchange of information and expertise among pediatric and pediatric cardiology specialists, and developing medical cooperation between the two sides.

Dr. Ahmed Arwada, the Medical Director of Duwa Hospital in Jarabulus, clarified that the seminar brings together cardiologists, pediatricians, and cardiac surgeons, with the presence of doctors from Gaziantep University, to discuss heart diseases in children and the latest therapeutic updates in this field. He pointed out that the seminar's goal is to develop the medical sector in Syria and enhance cooperation between Syrian and Turkish doctors, thereby contributing to improving the medical services provided.

For his part, Professor Osman Bashpinar, Head of the Pediatric Cardiology Department at Gaziantep University, stated that technological and medical advancements have enabled catheter interventions to treat several congenital heart defects in children, helping in certain cases to avoid surgery. Bihan Tahmazoglu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dr. Behcet Oz Children's Hospital in Turkey, emphasized the importance of cooperation between Syrian and Turkish doctors, noting that the seminar allows for the exchange of views on developments in treating heart diseases in children and what can be offered to improve their medical care.

Congenital heart diseases are conditions that may require specialized medical intervention during childhood. Interventional cardiac catheterization is used to treat some of these defects through blood vessels, using special medical instruments, and may eliminate the need for open-heart surgery in specific cases, depending on the nature of the defect and the medical team's assessment.
