The Rif Dimashq Governorate, in cooperation with the Daraya Municipality, began today, Tuesday, the implementation of the second phase of works to rehabilitate and asphalt the main road in the city, as part of the "Our Countryside is More Beautiful" campaign, with the aim of improving the state of roads and facilitating traffic and movement.
Khaled Khashini, a member of the Executive Office of the Daraya Municipality, clarified in a statement to a SANA correspondent that the rehabilitation works extend from the Martyrs Roundabout towards the western area, reaching the Four Seasons area, with a total length of approximately 6 kilometers, and a width ranging between 8 and 10 meters, reaching 12 meters in some locations.
Khashini indicated that the first phase included maintenance of sewage, electricity, and water networks, followed by rehabilitating a 3,200-meter stretch of the road from the Four Seasons area to the railway tracks. The second phase is currently ongoing from the railway towards the Martyrs Roundabout, with completion expected next Saturday.
Khashini pointed out the implementation of other projects to rehabilitate roads in the city, including Al-Wahda Street from the Farid Al-Laham intersection towards the Corniche, with a length of 500 meters and a width of 12 meters, and the Ghouta Jewelry Road, with a length of 300 meters and a width of 10 meters, in addition to the road connecting Al-Sakhera Neighborhood to the Great Mosque, with a length of 500 meters, whose rehabilitation works are still ongoing.
For his part, Muhammad Adeeb, a resident of Daraya, noted that road rehabilitation contributes to improving the service reality and general cleanliness, facilitating the movement of cars and traffic, and alleviating the daily suffering of residents, especially children on their way to schools.
These works come within the "Our Countryside is More Beautiful" campaign, implemented by the Rif Dimashq Governorate through a series of service, developmental, environmental, and community initiatives, aiming to develop infrastructure, improve basic services, and elevate the service reality and urban appearance in the governorate's cities and towns.
